L'Escalin Hotel Room - Beverly Yip
15 Rooms decorated in warm Provencal colors in a restored farmhouse in La Garde Adhémar. Enjoy the quiet countryside and superb, innovative cuisine, typical of the area.

La Garde Adémar is set upon a dominant rock that looks over the Rhône Valley. The Hotel l'Escalin is less than a mile out of the village, in a quiet country setting.

The Entrance to l'Escalin

Two gates lead onto the premises; the right goes to the apartments and the left goes to the restaurant and hotel reception. It's a little confusing as the reception is at the back of the property.

The main house has been turned into a restaurant with four dining rooms and an enormous kitchen, perfect for preparing their exquisite gourmet dishes of Provence.

L'Escalin Rooms

The adjoining complex contain the 15 rooms that are decorated in the colors of a Provençal summer; blue-green, yellow, burnt-sienna. Each have a decorative element that adds a simple elegance to the smallest details. All have air-conditioning, a color TV and a direct phone line.

The bathroom is furnished with a hair dryer and shampoos and lotions made with lavender. The shower is equipped with massage jets for the body, the feet and even for the head. Should there be a desire for the norm, there is also a regular shower handle. Two face mirrors in the shower give men the excuse to take a longer shower.

Pricing varies according to season; High season falls between May 1 to September 30 and low season is from October 1 through April 30. They offer half-board and pension supplements if your stay is 3+ days.

L'Escalin Grounds

In the summertime, there is a pool for guests and large areas with seating to enjoy a relaxing moment. More comfortable sofas and chairs are set up outside the restaurant area.

Business Meeting in a Beautiful Setting

The l'Escalin can help organize business meetings in one of the their large rooms. Contact them for more information.

A Provençal Table

Four dining salons and a large patio are set up for your dining pleasure. Each room is decorated in a different style but the menu is the same. Inventive, gourmet dishes are served, using seasonal and typical products from the area.

The menu is entirely in French and each option is for a multi-course meal including cheese and dessert. You also have at least three dishes to choose from for each course. Pricing is not listed on the menu but depending on what you choose, it can run between 22E to 80E a person...not including wine.

If it is hard to choose, there is the Menu Degustation which is a serving of their various dishes in small portions.

Overall Impression of l'Escalin Hotel and Restaurant

The rooms are large and comfortable and the bathroom, with the massage shower is a wonderful treat. The hardware on the walls is delicate and unusual, and in keeping with the Provençal theme.

Their food is a delight to the tastebuds and a visual work of art. Be prepared for a wait between dishes as they prepare their creations. However, despite the wait, their service is impeccable.

It is a great place for a weekend get-away or vacation stay for a special occasion. One thing is for sure, you will be treated well.
